Fructomix

Robust intestinal flora for healthy growth.

The natural fructooligosaccharides in Fructomix have a positive effect on the intestinal flora of livestock and strengthen their immune systems. It is an important step to healthy growth and sustainable increases in yield.

  • Increases the percentage of positive bifidus cultures in the intestines
  • Repels undesirable germs
  • Keeps the intestinal barrier intact
  • Supports the production of short-chain fatty acids in the large intestine
  • Results in a natural drop in intestinal pH values
  • Reduces blood ammonia in the large intestine
  • Supports consistent digestion and healthy growth

Power from nature.

Fructooligosaccharides are complex carbohydrates that many plants use as storehouses. They occur frequently in nature and are found in chicory, Jerusalem artichokes, artichokes and also in onions.

In the small intestine, fructooligosaccharides cannot be absorbed as a nutrient. That is why they can end up in the lower sections of the intestines. Harmful germs such as clostridia, Escherichia coli or salmonella cannot adequately make use of the fructooligosaccharides in Fructomix. These undesirable bacteria are unable to multiply successfully and healthy intestinal flora are able to flourish.

Protection against pathogenic germs.

In the large intestine, microbes ferment fructooligosaccharides into short-chain fatty acids – primarily into acetate, propionate, butyrate and L-lactic acids.

This increase in acid production results in a drop in large intestine pH. Certain species of bacteria are therefore unable to grow properly.

Fructooligosaccharides provide favourable conditions for the growth of anaerobic bacteria such as the bifidus bacteria that split glycosidic bonds and are able to use fructooligosaccharides as nutrients.
The percentages of potentially pathogenic germs such as salmonella, clostridia and E. coli decrease at the same time that the occurrence of bifidus flora increases. And the formation of metabolic products such as butyrate leads to an improved nutrient supply to intestinal epithelial cells.

Epithelial cells have to have a supply of butyrate in order to maintain the intestinal barrier. Fructooligosaccharides have a positive effect on the intestines and therefore on the immune system as well.

Fructomix – functional fructooligosaccharides.

Fructomix is gently extracted from chicory roots. It contains fructooligosaccharide with a degree of polymerisation set for optimal intestinal fermentation. Specially selected herbal extracts support the function of fructooligosaccharides.

By the end of the trial, the final weights of the Fructomix animals were 1 kg higher than those of the control group. Fructomix can be used for all monogastric species, including calves. In addition to its use in feeding young animals, it has proven especially effective at improving the consistency of sow manure.

Benefits for pigs and poultry.

The stimulation of desirable intestinal flora with fructooligosaccharides has been proven to boost the production of propanoic acids in the appendix and therefore significantly reduce salmonella infections in poultry and pigs.

“The addition of indigestible sugar led to a significant decrease in the number of salmonella-positive animals from 53% to only 27% and to a reduction in salmonella germs in salmonella-positive animals by 3 logarithms per gram of manure.”
