Health care from nature.
Mother Nature has wrapped a special package of active ingredients for creatures that are starting out in life: colostrum. It provides young animals with much more than highly digestible nutrients. The unique combination of bioactive substances in colostrum protects young organisms against pathogens and encourages healthy development.
At Phytobiotics, we have developed a particularly gentle production process for our Immunmilch that lets all of the bioactive substances in colostrum remain intact. We utilise all important protective and active ingredients, which are used regularly in the industrial production of cosmetics, medicines or dietetics and then no longer available for animal feed.
Immunmilch – for optimal livestock yield.
Gentle processing for an optimal effect.
Prepared particularly gently, our colostrum compound gives you the option of using the natural, highly effective protective substances in colostrum in feed during the entire breeding period. Immunmilch is based on colostrum from healthy dairy cows from controlled stocks. We mix several collective samples for a production batch which guarantees a broad, standardised spectrum of immune factors. Because the composition of colostrum quickly resembles that of normal milk after calving, we only use post-partum colostrum. A University of Giessen study on a total of 4,086 calves shows the positive effects of mixed colostrum on calf health.
In order to retain all of the important protective and active ingredients, we developed a special production process for Immunmilch which makes it possible to keep all of the bioactive substances of the colostrum intact while providing a user-friendly product at the same time. To ensure that the sensitive immunoglobulins and bioactive substances in Immunmilch are completely able to function, the colostrum is gently dried. Verification of the active ingredient contents using modern HPLC technology is a fixed component of our quality control process. Loose Immunmilch powder dissolves easily and can be integrated into quality feed mixtures for young animals easily and flexibly. Immunmilch has an outstanding active ingredient content in comparison to traditional low-fat milk and whey products. However, as a pure milk product, it is just as harmless when used in mixed feed production.
What makes colostrum so valuable?
Different types of immunoglobulin that only occur in colostrum in high concentrations play a vital role in protecting young animals against infection. In the first hours after birth, they make significant contributions to passive immunisation. This immunisation triggers the resistance of the immune system during the first weeks of life. In addition to immunoglobulins, other substances in colostrum stimulate young animal organisms to form antibodies early.
Various bioactive ingredients of colostrum, such as lactoperoxidase, lysozyme and lactoglobulin, develop a characteristic effect against pathogenic bacteria and viruses in the stomach and intestines. Anti-inflammatory substances protect the sensitive mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract while the synergetic interaction of growth substances stimulates the maturation and development of the intestinal mucosa. That prepares the digestive system for the optimal absorption of a wide variety of feeds. In addition, regeneration periods after infections are shortened.
By the way, many of the protective substances in colostrum have a cross-species effect which is why bovine colostrum has a wide range of applications – even in human medicine.
