Improving carcass value through natural breeding of Macleaya cordata
Numerous studies demonstrate Sangrovit®’s effectiveness in boosting animal resilience, with a strong focus on managing inflammation.
In response to the growing demand for higher-quality meat, we initiated a 10-year natural breeding program for Macleaya cordata, focused on one key goal: enhancing the levels of canadine, a powerful alkaloid known for its positive impact on carcass quality.
We are proud to announce that the program was a success! We’ve effectively increased the canadine levels, while preserving the other key alkaloids, leading to a more efficient and higher-quality product.
Now, with highest contents of canadine, Sangrovit® reaches a new level of effectiveness in supporting animal production. Canadine enhances Sangrovit®’s overall performance by upregulating genes linked to pathways, which contribute to improved carcass quality through increased lean muscle growth and reduced fat deposition. In addition, our 3rd Generation strengthens the antioxidant capacity, helping to support muscle cell function, meat quality, and extended shelf life.
Sangrovit® 3rd Generation with canadine – trial results
Antioxidant Protection:
• Improved antioxidant status (malondialdehyde) of meat, that was stored in a fridge for 3 days
• Only moderate increase in birds fed with Sangrovit® 3rd generation
• Severe increase in oxidative degradation in the control
Meat Composition Improvement:
• Increased breast muscle protein content and reduced fat accumulation, supporting leaner, higher-quality cuts.
• Alongside these gains, FCR efficiency improved significantly while lower liver scores highlighted enhanced organ health.
