New inclusion levels of the trace element copper
On August 13th 2019, the new maximum level of copper, published by the European Union, comes into effect.
The allowed maximum copper level in pig feed is reduced to 150 mg/kg complete feed until 4 weeks after weaning and to 100 mg/kg from week 5 to 8 after weaning. These limitations increase the importance of the quality and the availability of supplemented trace elements.
With our new product line Plexomin®, Phytobiotics’ brand for organically bound trace minerals, we react to this challenge. Plexomin® Cu contains copper bis-glycinates. This highly stable chemical bond consists of one atom of the corresponding mineral, bound to two molecules of the amino acid glycine. The bis-glycinates remain intact in the low pH of the stomach and are actively absorbed in the small intestine through the amino acid transporters, which leads to highly efficient digestibility.
Results show that the performance of copper sulphate matched with only half the amount of copper from Plexomin® Cu. Same success with less product use with Plexomin®.
